Fashion Class with Poketo
In Fall 2016, Poketo Store invited me to teach one of their workshops at the Line Hotel.
Class Description: Get a peek behind the curtain of the fashion design world. We'll start with the building blocks of fashion design, and trend forecasting, followed by a lesson in the creative decision making process that brings a collection together - defining mood, pulling inspiration, following design direction, and editing/ merchandising as well as a demonstration on fashion illustration.....
Below is the slideshow presented at the Fashion / Trend Forecasting Class with Poketo. It outlines how trend forecasting works, vocabulary, and tools of the fashion industry, and a Los Angeles Fashion resource list (below). Our in class design project centered around a design direction entitled 'Super Saturated, Fall 17'. It includes a mood board, color board, trend direction, and keys silhouettes. Students used provided fabric swatches, and got an illustration lesson from fellow Otis Grad, and designer Tim Nyugen. Working off the slides below, they designed their own outfits or capsule groups.
