Live Art at Show + Tell
I'm excited to be part of this weekend's gallery and shopping event in LIttle Tokyo! Show + Tell Projects is an industrial 4,000 square foot art and design concept store. A brand new project space for special events and collaborations.
Bay area fiber artist Meghan Shimek will be doing live art by creating a large scale weaving on site. Composer and musician Drum and Lace will DJ a live set. Fave cafe Daily Dose will be there with bites. Get your tarot read by Sophia Knapp
I'll be there with brand new fall pieces as part of the pop - up market along with Half Ceramics, Capricorn Press, Emma Holland Denvir, Echo + Air , Clau Handbags, LZZR Jewelry, Noto Botanics , Rafa Shoes, Seeker Clothing, Joy Newell.
I'm lucky to be part of a community of creatives who thrive on bringing friends together around art, design and wellness. We're looking forward to this Free afternoon of creative stimulation, and artisan wares!

Poketo Fashion Design Workshop
I'm thrilled to be teaching a one time Fashion Design Workshop hosted by Poketo on Saturday October 15th. This class has limited space and is expected to sell out soon. We're offering a one day only discount of 15% off Today (Monday)! Use code: workshop15 when signing up.
The workshop takes place at The Line Hotel. A mid- century building in Koreatown transformed into one of Dwell Magazine's 10 Best Designed Hotels in America. The Line is a creative collaboration of LA's best in food, architecture, and interior design. One of the restaurants, Commissary (pictured above) was named by GQ as one of the 5 Coolest Places to Eat in LA - it's like being in a greenhouse with a view :)
Poketo was founded by husband-and-wife-team Angie Myung and Ted Vadakan. It started in 2003 as a creative enterprise, and has grown into a lifestylebrand with an indie vibe. Poketo is a creative collaborator Line Hotel, and you can shop the store at The Line as well.
Classes like this are great for curiosity, satisfying your creative life, and expanding personal growth. You'll have the chance to connect with fellow creatives of all ages, learn what it's like to design a seasonal collection, and leave with a packet of resources invaluable for fashion design. I met fellow fashion designer and illustrator Tim Nguyen on our indigo retreat in Japan earlier this summer, he will be teaching the illustration portion of our class.a
Little Tokyo / Arts District Adventure
If you don't come down to this part of town very often, here are a couple of my favorite places to stop off. After visiting the pop- up at Show + Tell in Little Tokyo this Saturday starting at 12....
Stroll over to Mikawaya, the original home of Mochi Ice cream. It's a small confectionary that was family owned for over 100 years starting in 1910. Their delicious invention was made familiar by Trader Joe's. Hauser Wirth & Schimmel is just a short trip a way, and worth a visit! This privately owned, museum callibur arts center was built in a historic 100K sq. ft flour mill that was built in the 1890s. It's larger than the Moca Grand. The Maria Lassnig show there just opened, and her surreal palette portrays nude figures on a large scale.
Close by is Henessey and Ingalls, the largest art, architecture and design bookstore in the western United States. The rare and out-of-print establishment is still family-owned, and you'll find fantastic inspiration to take home with you.
After all that walking, you should get some refreshment at Zinc Cafe down the street. The open kitchen and courtyard dining area provide a nice respite. I love the olive trees, and fountain for the peaceful atmosphere, and the food is great. If you're in the mood for a cocktail, get on over to low key lounge E.R.B.'s outdoor patio. Their well made drinks have fresh juices and delicious ingredients such as pink guava, grapefruit, and meyer lemon bitters.
