Shop Studio Saturdays 11 - 4p in August
Come by this Saturday from 11am - 4pm to shop the studio! There's a one day sale to celebrate my birthday, and all items from the clothing line are 30% off this Saturday, and a special rack at 50%. New to see in studio are exclusive weavings from textile artist Claudia Zhao. Her wool and cotton wall art in black and cream are calming decor for home, and make great one of a kind gifts.
On Saturday August 27th, studio - mate Amy and I will host another designer shopping event with Echo and Air, Jakimac, Melissa Sonico, and more! We're excited to open the studio to other designers again since our first one went off with such success, and many happy customers. So mark your calendars, get ready for drinks and fun, and stay tuned for event details with instagram.
Next week, the colorful beautiful paintings of Dani Schafer will be on our walls. Dani is a Wisconsin based artist (the state where I grew up!) who is a soon to be mother, and has 75K instagram followers - because her art speaks to many people. The "sweeping brushstrokes.... and intuitive manner" make her gestural and abstract pieces both warm and energizing. We have inspired each other the last couple of years, and I can't wait to share her talent and pieces.

Darling Magazine
I've loved Darling Magazine since they started several years ago - it explores the art of being a woman, and is in search of authentic design. Darling's events and workshops are always enlightening. They asked how readers could revamp their wardrobe with the process of dip dyeing, and I was happy to contribute on How to Breath New Life into Old Clothes... check out the article
WWD at the Studio
Fashion industry publication Women's Wear Daily stopped by the studio in July to profile why customers love the alternative shopping experience of one on one attention, ethical production, and limited edition pieces. Journal from Japan
Last month's Japan trip was an exploration into history, arts, and craft techniques. We visited museums in Tokyo, and learned about heritage Boro textiles pictured above on the right. Then went off to the countryside to see magic silkworms, and the many facets of fiber arts. Spent late nights sewing, folding and manipulating fabric for the 30 gallon indigo vats right outside the farmhouse doors. And experienced nature in a way none of us were ready for -- we watched Bryan Sensei rescue a pigeon as it was being eaten by a crow, and hack a gigantic poisonous centipede in half with a sushi knife in the middle of a quiet work session :0. Otis College of Art and Design (my alma mater) professor Sumi Lee organized this great adventure for a group of 10 Otis alumni, and Im very grateful to her, and all of the people we learned from while in Japan as well as my classmates out there!
